A few different summer footwear options

When it comes to summer, the amount of clothes we wear is normally a lot less. This means that footwear during this season has a real ability to stand out. In this article we will look at a couple of the not so obvious options.

Firstly, slides footwear carry on being massively on the rise this year. They have gone from being relatively obscure, to being worn by everyone from Olympic athletes to Rhianna. Slides are a great addition to any summer wardrobe, offering the casualness and breathability of sandals or flip flops. While also being interchangeable with trainers for a night or day out. So, before you blow the dust off those flip flops you always find a bit of a nuisance to wear, consider expanding your wardrobe with some slides and give yourself a few more options.

If you’re a fan of boots during winter and can’t quite let go during summer. Then it can be worth checking out what’s on offer in terms of sandals, with many boot companies turning their talents to sandals. Doing so in such a way that the characteristic of a boot is still very much part of the footwear. If you still want to wear actual boots during summer, it can be worthwhile looking at soft leather options of boots. These types of boots can help with breathability during the hot summer months.

If you choose slides or sandals, then the next debate that can appear is whether these are acceptable to be worn with socks. Ultimately it comes down to you and your judgement on the matter. The only advice I would give on the situation is if you are going to wear socks with these types of footwear, make sure they are plane socks, simply one colour throughout. Otherwise, you lose the contrast between footwear and socks, and it all starts to look a bit messy.

These types of footwear are not always everyone’s cup of tea. It’s perfectly understandable if you want to stick with your comfy trainers and flip flops. Yet summer is often the time you can find yourself fighting with suitcase limitations when trying to go on holiday. When this occurs, slides can be a great alternative, due to the fact they can sub in for flip flops or trainers. Saving you space and weight, making sure you don’t get caught out by weight allowances at the airport.
